Since 2012 Thomas Waltrich has been teaching music to a variety of students of different ages and learning abilities. He has established music programs at different primary schools in Melbourne preferring to work one on one with students to tailor the lesson to their needs, interests and learning style. Whilst living in Berlin Thomas taught in his second language, German and taught a student with whom he didn’t share a common language.

Through navigating language barriers and children’s learning challenges Thomas continues to develop his teaching practice and evolve his methods to meet the students' needs. With a focus on inspiring students to love playing music to then motivate learning correct technique for sustainable and efficient playing, reading notation and learning the musical language for effective communication with other musicians.
